CHEEKTOWAGA, NY--- Be advised, this is only a drill. That is what the NFTA wants the public to know about emergency training set for early Saturday night at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
The exercise is required by the FAA and will include the Airport Rescue Fire Fighting Unit, NFTA Transit Police the Airport Airfield and Terminal Operations, along with first responders from multiple agencies including Cheektowaga, Amherst and the Erie County Sheriff's Department.
The training scenario is designed around an aircraft landing at the airport in bad weather and making contact with an airfield service vehicle.
Due to the sights and sounds of numerous emergency vehicles at and responding to the airport, the NFTA wants everyone to know ahead of time that the 6 P.M. exercise is only a drill and not an actual event.
