BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Despite rain showers on a dreary day, dozens of bright costumes could be seen walking Elmwood Avenue Sunday afternoon for some family-focused Halloween fun.
From 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., small Elmwood Avenue businesses offered young ghosts and ghouls treats for a "Safe Trick-or-Treat" event.
The Elmwood Village Association runs the annual event. It allows parents to take their children 10 years old and younger, in costume, to the Elmwood Village area to collect candy from participating local businesses.
The Elmwood Village Association (EVA) has offered the opportunity for young trick-or-treaters since 2001.
EVA aims to improve quality of life for businesses and residents in the Elmwood Village community. It sponsors many events, including the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Picnic in the Parkway Summer Concert Series and neighborhood beautification efforts.
