ECWA partners for new alert system

BUFFALO, NY--  The Erie County Water Authority has a new system to alert customers when issues arise with their water system.

The ECWA says they've partnered with IVR Technology Group to create the customer alert system.

ECWA customers can sign up online at:  ecwa.org or text "WATER" to 1-844-716-3292.  The system will allow ECWA to send information about water main breaks or other emergencies that affect their water system.  Customers who were previously registered on their old system will need to re-register.

“We are happy to be working with a local firm with as much experience in providing secure voice and text applications as IVR Technology,” said ECWA Chairman Earl Jann in a released statement. “Improving our ability to communicate with our customers is paramount and partnering with IVR Technology to develop our alert system is an important step.”

The authority was criticized a few months ago for not alerting customers sooner when a major water main break caused thousands to lose water services.
