LEWISTON, N.Y. -- Those who notice first responders in full gear Wednesday night at the New York Power Authority should know a drill is underway.
The New York Power Authority is hosting a first responder drill involving the Niagara County Sheriff's Department Emergency Response Team.
The drill will be held at the Niagara Power Project and is set to run from now until 10 p.m. It will involve deputies in full gear and SWAT vehicles.
The South Access Road leading to the Robert Moses Power Plant and the nearby fishing pier will be used during the drill.
The deputies will respond to two active shooter scenarios at the Power Project. Additional individuals will act as victims and be "treated" on the scene.
The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is the nation's largest state public power organization.
