BERGEN, N.Y. - Genesee County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a car that was involved in a serious hit-and-run Friday in Bergen.
It happened on Route 33 near Dublin Road around 9 p.m.
Deputies say the driver of a blue sedan tried to pass a van when the sedan struck an oncoming truck driven by John F. Gurtler. The truck went off the shoulder of the road. Gurtler and his one passenger inside the truck were not hurt. The driver of the sedan drove off.
The van, operated by Hailee N. Callicutt, tried to avoid that collision and ended up hitting a utility pole and a tree. The van driver was trapped and had to be removed from the vehicle. That person had a leg injury and was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital. Five others in the van had minor injuries and were also taken to Strong.
Deputies say the blue sedan likely has damage to the front and driver's side of the vehicle.
