Cheektowaga Town Justice Delano Resigns

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY- Cheektowaga Town Justice Dennis Delano has resigned from his position, according to Judge Paula Feroleto, an administrative judge for the 8th judicial district.

Feroleto says Delano submitted his letter of resignation to Town Supervisor Mary Holtz on June 20.

Delano, a former Buffalo Police detective, had been on medical leave since February.

Elected in 2010, Delano had earned a salary of $75,000 a year as town justice.

With Delano's seat now vacant, Holtz says retired Judge Timothy Dwan, who had been filling in, has agreed to stay on at no cost to the town, to help Cheektowaga handle the court caseload.

Delano's replacement will be elected in November, and will take the bench in January.
