Canalside prepares for winter season

Canalside Gets Ready For Another Big Season

BUFFALO, N.Y. - There are lots of things to do at Canalside in the winter, and not just ice skating. The winter season is kicking off and several new attractions and activities are in the works.

First, there are going to be more activities with a theme for those times when kids are out of school, like MLK Weekend and Presidents Weekend.

Also, Silent Disco will be an option for visitors.

"You can put headphones on and you'd be the only one listening to that music. It's run in different ways around the country. I've heard it described as you can have four different stations, I can listen to blues, you can listen to classic or we can all listen to disco, but we don't have the loud crowd noise on," said Tom Dee with the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation.

Another one of the new things that will be featured this year is a Community Learn to Skate program that will be held on Fridays.

The Canalside pavilion will be renamed Winter Lodge and public skate hours will be extended, and promotion nights will be $8.00.
