Public Brings Forward Ideas for Outer Harbor

Hundreds have attended public meetings held to gather ideas about what should be done at the outer harbor in Buffalo.

Some of the ideas brought up include building the Bills Stadium there or creating a mega complex building. Sam Hoyt with the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation explains there was also a big emphasis on water recreational opportunities like jet skiing, parasailing, kayak rental and hot air balloon rides.

The consultants hired for the outer harbor will now create three different blue prints incorporating ideas they've heard. This will follow another session for public feedback and the final master plan is expected to be done by late fall.

Sam Hoyt said, "You will see activity at the outer harbor that relates to the master plan that we get back at the end of the year next summer. It will move quickly in that sense, but the master plan returned will not be completed for many years down the road."

"It's going to be a waterfront that is developed in such as way that people's opinion creates the final product," Hoyt said.
