Bryan ISD says it will begin searching for a permanent superintendent

BISD school board will begin its search for a permanent replacement for its superintendent.

BRYAN, Texas - During a meeting Monday, the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees discussed how they would go about searching for a permanent superintendent.

No action was taken on the topic at the meeting, but Dr. Douglas Wunneburger, the board's president, says consultants could make presentations and suggestions regarding the search during the next meeting on Nov. 7.

Wunneburger says once the board hears from the consultants and explores other resources, it can take possible action on a search timeline.

As far as candidates go, Wunneburger says the board can't discuss any possible candidates until the job position is officially posted.

However, the board did approve an amendment to Dr. Timothy Rocka's contract. Rocka has been serving as the interim superintendent since Tommy Wallas' departure on Sept. 30.

The amendment formally defines his duties as interim superintendent, his stipend and other terms regarding his new role. However, he will still be responsible for his prior role on the board.
