Bike Helmet Giveaway In Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Police Athletic League and Mayor Byron Brown handed out bike helmets to kids of all ages in the city Friday.

The goal is to teach more young people how to properly wear a bike helmet.

Another giveaway is scheduled for Saturday outside the MetroPCS at 2521 Walden Avenue, across from the Super Walmart.

It will run from noon until 2 p.m.

On August 26, the BPAL will host its final summer giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon at Futures Garden in the Fruit Belt, 295 Carlton Street near Orange Street.

According to its website, each year the Police Athletic Association gives away more than 2,000 helmets through various community events.
