Vigil Held For Mayouna Smith

AMHERST, N.Y.-A small group gathered in Amherst Monday night for a prayer vigil in honor of three year old Mayouna Smith.

The toddler was was found dead more than three weeks ago in an apartment on Allenhurst Road due to blunt force trauma.

Signs of sexual and physical abuse were also present on Smith.

"We want this wrapped up quickly, it's taking a while, we want justice, don't want the person to get away with this, we want justice and stop dragging your feet, we're not getting any answers," said Smith's Grandmother Annette Allen.

According to a source, Smith had been the subject of a prior report to Erie County Child Protective Services. But the same source says that does not mean she was the subject of any prior reports of "physical" abuse.
