Arrest made in Amherst bank robbery

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Amherst Police they've made an arrest in connection with the First Niagara Bank robbery Monday afternoon. 

Mark T. Evans, 31, of Amherst is charged with Robbery, Grand Larceny and Possession of a Controlled Substance. 

Police say Evans walked into the bank, handed the bank teller a note and demanded money.  He then took an undetermined amount of cash and left the bank, heading in an unknown direction. 

Evans was arraigned in court and is being held at the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $5,000 bail.
