BUFFALO,NY-- The Albright Knox Art Gallery hosted a special event Wednesday to announce a $14.1 million dollar donation from the help of thirteen area foundations, which will help fund the museum's renovation project.
Those donations are in addition to a donation made Jeffrey Gundlach, a Western New York native who is the CEO and founder of Doubleline Capital. He donated $42.5 million to the gallery through a "challenge gift," which succeeded in raising an additional $40.5 million in additional donations for the gallery's AK360 expansion project.
Officials are hoping to breaking ground as early as 2018.
The project will double the number of art works the museum can display, and will provide state-of-the-art space for special exhibitions, as well as more space for education, dining and activities.
