Admitted Addict Accused Of Car Breakins

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An admitted heroin addict is facing charges in the Town of Tonawanda after police say they caught him stealing from unlocked vehicles.

The 23-year-old man, Joseph Schneider of Delaware Street, was arrested just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Schneider had loose change, keys and gift cards on him at the time of his arrest that had allegedly been taken from several vehicles. Officials say he went through vehicles in the Minerva, Elmwood Park and Fletcher Street areas.

Schneider told police he was looking for money to fund his, "10 bag a day heroin addiction," police said.
