BUFFALO, NY-- The eight-year-old boy who was shot while sitting in a car with his mom and brothers is improving.
Women and Children's Hospital says Donnell Bibbes' condition has been upgraded to serious/stable, and he is off life support. The family is asking for continued prayers.
Bibbes was shot last month while sitting in a car on South Division Street. Police say one of his brothers was the intended target. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
When we spoke with Mayor Byron Brown shortly after the shooting, he had this message for Donnell's brother.
"Look at your little brother than you love lying there fighting for his life because someone was trying to get you. Speak up. Let us know who is out there," said Brown.
A spokesperson for the Buffalo Police Department says there has been some progress in the investigation.
