Motorcycle Poker Run raises money for charity

BUFFALO, NY - 219 motorcycles took to the streets Saturday for the annual Louis J. Billittier Foundation Motorcycle Poker Run and Charity Raffle.

The Louis J. Billittier Foundation was created by Lou Jr. and Mary Beth Billittier-Darling after their father passed away in 2000. The Foundation supports hometown charities such as Buffalo Hearing and Speech, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and the Variety Club of Buffalo.

The charity raised $25,000 during the event and also raffled off a Harley Davidson Street Glider motorcycle. Raymond Zylinkski of Lakeview won the motorcycle from 400 entries.

 

Special guests at the charity run included Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard, Dave “DJ” Jickster and Carl Russo from 97 Rock, former Sabres star Rene Robert and retired law enforcement officer Dick Dobson, the father of State Trooper Kevin Dobson, who was killed on the I-290 in 2010

More than 15 police bikes led the run, which Billittier dubs the “Great American Ride."

The run began at Chef's in Buffalo at 10 a.m. and included stops at Mickey Rats, the Springville VFW Post and the Made In America store in ElmaBikers played a game of poker at the at the various locations.
