BUFFALO, NY — The 122nd annual YMCA Turkey Trot has officially reached capacity.
With nearly a week before the annual Thanksgiving Day tradition for Western New Yorkers, more than 14,000 runners have registered for the race. This 8K race, the oldest consecutively run footrace in North America, begins at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning at Delaware and Tacoma avenues.
“We would like to thank everyone who registered for their support of the YMCA Turkey Trot and our mission,’ said Geoffrey Falkner, communications director for YMCA Buffalo Niagara, in a statement. “This race is one of Buffalo’s greatest traditions, and helps strengthen the entire Western New York community."
If you aren't running but want to get involved with the Turkey Trot, you can sign up to be a race day volunteer at YMCATurkeyTrot.org.
Participants can pick up their race packets at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (150 Tech Drive, Amherst near ECC North Campus) from Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
