Jeff Preval joined 2 On Your Side in August 2012, as a multi-media journalist.
Jeff was part of 2 On Your Side's Emmy award winning coverage of the Snowvember storm. Jeff also received a nomination in long-format reporting by the National Association of Black Journalists, for a series on a local police department's use of racial sensitive language in police reports.
Originally from Massachusetts, Jeff has returned to New York State after working for three years in Central Pennsylvania as a news reporter/multi-media journalist.
Jeff came to Western New York from WTAJ-TV, based in Altoona, Pa. For two years, Jeff worked as a county bureau reporter.
An extensive part of Jeff's experience in Pennsylvania was reporting exclusively on the Jerry Sandusky/Penn State child sex abuse scandal. Among many developments in the Sandusky saga, Jeff was there for Sandusky's arrest and trial. Jeff also reported on legendary football coach Joe Paterno's fall from supremacy as the once "winningest coach in major college football history."
Jeff reported on the widely-publicized "Penn State riot," which involved students protesting Paterno's firing. In part, students flipped WTAJ's news van. The station's coverage won a "Best Breaking News Award," from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.
Jeff also had an exclusive interview with the university's Board of Trustees, after Paterno's firing.
He also had a story air on CNN's HLN that featured road rage damage around the cemetery Paterno is now buried in.
While also working near Penn State, Jeff covered President Obama's February 2011 trip to the university. President Obama visited Penn State to discuss renewable energy.
Jeff is a graduate of Hofstra University, with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. He minored in Philosophy.
Upon graduation, he worked at WCBS 880 AM, as an assignment desk assistant. WCBS 880 AM is the home of the New York Yankees Radio Network.
In addition to his news duties, Jeff also worked behind the scenes during Yankees baseball coverage. He has also received awards from the Press Club of Long Island and Radio Television News Directors Association.
