DuPont to Pay $440,000 Fine for Clean Air Violations

BUFFALO, NY- Dupont said Tuesday that it has agreed to pay a penalty of $440,000 after it was accused of violating the federal Clean Air Act at its Tonawanda plant.

In addition to the fine, the Environmental Protection Agency is also mandating Dupont test the emissions from its smoke stack.

Prior to Tuesday's fine, Dupont had already installed equipment to reduce emissions of hazardous air pollution after an EPA inspection.
