Health Department: 3 stores sold tobacco to minors

According to the Niagara County Health Department, three stores have been fined for selling tobacco products to minors.

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y.---According to the Niagara County Health Department, three stores have been fined for selling tobacco products to minors.

The stores were cited following a series of compliance checks between July 1 and September 30 of this year.

The goal of the program is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use among people under 18 years old.

Facilities cited and fined for violations  are: Bray and Bray on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls, Bernardi's Rapid Mart on Rapids Road in Lockport and the Kwik Stop Mark on Locust Street in Lockport.
 
The health department says this is each store's first violation.
 
Each store is now required to conduct employee training and educational programs which will be monitored by the health department.
