Father's Day stabbing on Niagara Street

BUFFALO, NY – A Metro bus driver called in a report of a stabbing that occurred Sunday on Niagara Street near Maryland Avenue around 2 p.m.

Doug Hartmayer, spokesman for the NFTA Transit Police, said that the attacker and the victim, both men, fled the scene.

According to Hartmayer the attacker, Miguel Crespo, 23, was found a short time later at the home of Gilberto Rodriguez, 32, at 363 Busti Avenue.

A canvass of area hospitals led transit police to the victim, Michael Empson, 27, at Buffalo General Hospital. He was being treated for stab wounds to the left chest and back.

Crespo was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and further charges are pending. Rodriguez is charged with obstruction of justice. Empson, meanwhile, was wanted on several outstanding warrants.
