FAA: Turn off Galaxy Note7s on planes

SEATTLE – The FAA says passengers who own Samsung Galaxy Note7 phones will no longer be allowed to turn them on or charge them while on a plane. They also cannot pack them in checked luggage.

The ruling comes a day after the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall of the mobile devices because of reports of dozens of phones exploding due to a fault with the batter.

Aviation authorities in Australia and Europe are also enacting the same rules.

Passengers are being told to make sure to disable any features that may cause the phones to activate on their own, such as alarm clocks.
