Erica Brecher’s first winter in Buffalo started with “Snowvember” and ended with record-breaking cold.
She’s still here.
Erica joined Channel 2 in July 2014 as a general assignments reporter; today she continues to serve in that role in early evening news, on Daybreak, and occasionally as a fill-in anchor.
Previously, Erica worked at WETM-TV in Elmira as the station’s weekend anchor, a reporter, and a producer.
Erica graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science. She placed sixth in the country in the prestigious Hearst Journalism Awards Program for radio news reporting and first place in the Pennsylvania AP Broadcasters Association awards for Enterprise/Individual Reporting in 2012. She is a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, a national honor society for academic excellence in journalism.
Prior to professional television reporting, Erica interned for AccuWeather.com in State College, Pa.; WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C.; WPSU in State College, Pa.; and Coyne PR in Parsippany, N.J.
Erica loves the Penn State Nittany Lions, coffee shops, flip flops, Long Beach Island, music and sports. She already skates and is slowly but surely learning to play ice hockey. Erica was homegrown in Randolph, N.J., where her family still lives, but Buffalo has become her home.
Erica admits to often standing on a box to look taller on TV.
