LACKAWANNA, NY - The fate of the Bethlehem Steel headquarters building may have been sealed in court today. State Supreme Court James Dillon declined to extend a stay that had been placed on demolition of the historic structure last week.
Preservationists fighting to save the administration building argued that the building's owners had ignored and concealed a study proving the building was structurally sound. They said it didn't need to be torn down.
Demolition at the site had already begun in January when preservationists filed suit to stop the work.
