HAMBURG, N.Y. -- Village Police and administrators in the Hamburg School District are tyaking a cautious approach after reports surfaced about a potential threat on Facebook involving Hamburg High School.

Investigators say this all started when Village Police got call from person saying there was "Facebook chatter" in regards to a potential threat.  Following investigation, it was found that there was no substance to the threat.

Despite that, Superintendent Steven Achramovitch says rumors have continued over past few days and the principal addressed the high school Wednesday in an attempt to dispel them.

Despite all of that, Achramovitch says the district has stepped up security in an abundance of caution, and there continues to be two-way cooperation between the district and police.
