Another Beautiful Lake Ontario Trout

The Secret is out! The fishing on Lake Ontario is world class, and anglers everywhere want to get in on the bite!

"Every other year, my dad charters a boat from these great guys, and they take it out,and they have a great time!" says Heather Barber of Cleveland.

Carol Hoover of Ft. Worth Texas, agrees, "I've been hearing about these family trips, these fishing trips for about ten years, and the girls got to join this year with the boys, and we had a great time!"

The fishing is so good, a TV crew recently made the trek all the way from South Carolina to produce shows on both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie!

Bob Redfern, host of Bob Redfern's Outdoor Magazine loves Western New York, "We've been coming up here about three years now,you have one of the best fisheries, Smallmouth, Steelhead, and again, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, the Niagara Falls area is just a wonderful place to come to!"

Bob Cinelli is owner of Cinelli's Sportfishing Service in Olcott,NY. "Lake Ontario offers the best freshwater Trout and Salmon fishing in the nation. The fish here are bigger and they're very numerous. We get people not only from all over the country, we get 'em from all over the world!"

Lake Ontario has two great advantages, the first is a natural one; easy access to deep, cold, oxygen rich water.

"Lake Ontario averages 400 feet in depth" explains Cinelli "so you only ever have a narrow layer of water at the top that's warm, and the majority of the lake is cold water, which these fish thrive in. So, essentially we can access cold water rather shallow, which allows us to fish effectively for the fish."

The second advantage is Niagara County's outstanding sportfishing and tourism promotion program.

Cinelli concurs "We've worked very hard for twenty years, getting information out there, letting people know the fishing exists, and the quality of the fishing."

So, if you're looking for an exciting way to spend a day, head up to Lake Ontario, find a good guide, and get ready for some outstanding fishing!

Says Cinelli "There isn't really anybody who's into fishing that doesn't recognize Niagara County or the Niagara River or Lake Ontario sportfishing."

Redfern's philosophy; "Tight lines, hummin' reels, that's what it's all about!"
