Teens Charged With Assaulting Elderly Man

BUFFALO, NY-- Buffalo Police say four teenagers are in custody and charged in an assault near the Central Library Thursday morning. The youngest suspects are 14-years-old.

Police were called to Broadway and Ellicott Street around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. A man, believed to be homeless, was assaulted. It was unprovoked, according to Buffalo Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge.

Officials say the 64-year-old man suffered head and facial injuries. He has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, but he remains in ICU at ECMC. 

Detectives  arrested and charged a 17-year-old male, a 16-year-old male and two 14-year-old males.
The four are charged with assault in the first degree and gang assault. 
They were apprehended by NFTA Police and turned over to Buffalo Police.
