Teenager charged in July 5th rape on Buffalo's West Side

BUFFALO, NY-- Buffalo Police say they have arrested a teenager in connection to a July 5th sexual assault.

Police say Dionte M. Cooper, 16, attacked a 24-year-old victim early on July 5th near Elmwood Avenue and Allen Street. They say the suspect dragged the victim to a nearby alley, knocked her to the ground and forcibly sexually assaulted.

Even though Cooper is a minor, 2 On Your Side is reporting his name because he is charged as an adult.

The suspect also allegedly stole the victim's iPhone and took off on foot. The victim was treated at ECMC for injuries sustained in the attack.

The teenager is charged with first degree rape, criminal sexual act, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
