Grand Island armed robbery suspect charged

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Erie County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a Buffalo man in connection to an armed robbery at a Grand Island gas station July 14.

Detectives say tips from the public received through the Crime Stoppers tip line helped in locating the suspect, 39-year-old Michael Church. When detectives were able to determine his address on Military Road in Buffalo, they searched it and found evidence connected to the Grand Island armed robbery at the Mobile Station on Love Road.

Church was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and misdemeanor menacing and petit larceny.

He is currently being held at the Erie County Holding Center on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.  Deputies say church is also suspected of other area armed robbers.
