BUFFALO, NY -- Police are saying that a double shooting on Purdy Street that happened at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday may be connected to a dramatic accident that happened on the Kensington Expressway (Route 33) a short time later.
Police say a 42-year-old male and a 24-year-old female were in a home on the 300 block of Purdy when someone kicked open a door and started shooting.
The male victim, Antwaine Vance, was declared dead at the scene. Dominique Jackson was taken to Erie County Medical Center. She is currently in stable condition.
Not too long after that, about a mile away, a car crashed through the guardrail on Humboldt Parkway at Glenwood Avenue and landed on the 33 below. Officials think that car may be connected to the shooting on Purdy Street, but they haven't said how these two incidents are related.
One person is in custody, however, and a weapon has been recovered, police say.
This isn't the first time a car has crashed through the guardrail and landed on the 33. In April 2014, a car driven by Kevin Wayne Brown, 47, of Buffalo crashed through a barrier on Humboldt Parkway and on to the 33 and exploded.
