Buffalo man indicted in Cheektowaga murder

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - A Buffalo man has been indicted for a murder that happened last summer in Cheektowaga .

Kevin J. Schwartz, 46, is charged with second degree murder and burglary. He is accused of killing Lawrence J. Cassata, 67.

Police say they were called to 1082 Walden July 6, 2015 for a report of a disturbance. They found Cassata unresponsive. They say Schwartz was seen running from the house. He was arrested and charged with violating his parole. A medical examiner ruled Cassata's death a homicide.

Schwartz was arraigned on the murder and burglary charge Thursday. At the time of Cassata's death, Schwartz was on parole for a 2012 domestic violence charge.
