Crews respond to fire at Batavia chemical plant

BATAVIA, N.Y.--Crews are investigating a fire at a Batavia chemical plant.

It happened around 2:30 Monday morning at Summit Lubricants on Pearl Street in the Town of Batavia.

Officials at the scene tell 2 On Your Side a worker noticed smoke coming from an outdoor charcoal tank.

The tanks are used as an air filtration system.

It took crews about two-and-a-half hours to knock down the flames.

One firefighter was taken to United Memorial Medical Center for smoke inhalation.

No one else was hurt.
