Bella Kids: shopping for a cause

There is a chance to get a jump-start on holiday shopping this weekend at the Transitown Plaza in Williamsville. It's the tri-annual "Bella Kids" event.

Bella Kids is a pop-up consignment shop. Organizers said they are selling around 40,000 items of gently used baby and kid clothes and toys.

Entry is free and everything is 50 to 85 percent off retail price.

Every Bella Kids event supports a local organization and this event is going to the Epilepsy Association of Western New York.

It's an organization close to the heart of the Bella Kids founder who has a daughter with epilepsy.

"It's not very fun to have epilepsy, but you get to deal with it," Bella Mora, the 11-year-old, said. "It goes away at some point in your life, but epilepsy, if you have it, it's no big deal. I've had it since I was seven and I still have it today."

There are donation jars for the Epilepsy Association at every checkout stand and Bella Kids matches donations.

The Epilepsy Association offers professional services to people with epilepsy and their families.

The final day of Bella Kids winter event is Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everything will be marked down an additional 50 percent.

Organizers said the best shopping tips are to come early and look underneath the racks.
