Chick-fil-A to open WNY restaurant

Chick-Fil-A To Open WNY Restaurant

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Chick-fil-A will open a restaurant in the Buffalo area sometime in 2018/2019, the company announced Monday.

"It's official - Chick-fil-A is coming to Upstate New York!" read a statement, that said its first locations will be in the Buffalo, Plattsburgh, Rochester and Syracuse areas.

The company did not release any specifics as far as where the restaurants will be located.

"While we don't yet have more details to share, we are committed to continuing our Upstate growth in the coming years," the statement said.

When 2 On Your Side asked the woman handling marketing for Chick-fil-a if we could interview someone to get more information Monday, she told us, "We aren't able to conduct interviews at this time."

Chick-fil-A has already announced plans to open restaurants in the Rochester suburb of Greece and in the Central New York town of Cicero.

While there have been many rumors and reports of possible sites in Western New York, nothing has been announced.

In May, the company told 2 On Your Side it was pursuing sites in Western New York, but it wouldn't confirm the legitimacy of a sign along Route 31 in Sanborn in Niagara County that read "Coming Soon: Chick-fil-A".

Chick-fil-a has a very loyal following here in Western New York despite having no locations here yet. Here's what some of our viewers said on social media Monday. Collette said, "Ask my adult sons Ryan, Joey and Derek. They've driven to Erie Pa. from Niagara Falls for their chicken sandwiches and waffle fries."

But Sarah said, "We had Chick-fil-a in Ohio. It was in the food court of the mall and to be honest, I didn't think, it was that great."

Chick-fil-A has more than 2,000 restaurants across the United States. It opened its first in New York State in 2015 in Manhattan.
