TOWN of TONAWANDA, NY-- As the nation prepares to honor its veterans, local students are hoping to help those who serve now.

Mrs. Butler's first grade class at Hoover Elementary made holiday cards for service men and woman and their families.

It's part of a program through the Red Cross called "Holiday Mail for Heroes".

Teacher Amy Butler says, "This is just a great chance for the kids to get an experience to feel like they are part of what's happening in their community and in the world around them."

You can send well wishes to those serving this holiday season to the Red Cross.

Card can be mailed to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD

The deadline is December 10th.
