Buffalo Woman Arrested After 60 Mile Thruway Chase

BUFFALO, NY - A Buffalo woman is being held at the Erie County Holding Center today, accused of hitting a police officer while fleeing.

New York State Police say they chased Julie M. Lauricello of Auburn Avenue for 60 miles on the thruway Monday night, finally catching her after her car crashed into the center barrier on the I-190.

According to police, her car was surrounded by police cars after the crash, but she still attempted to leave the scene by unsuccessfully crashing through two of the vehicles.

She was taken into custody and charged with: Criminal Mischief 3rd (E Felony), Reckless Endangerment 2nd (A-misd), Fleeing from a Police Ofc 3rd (A-misd), Reckless Driving (A-misd), DWAI Drugs, and numerous traffic infractions.

Police say Lauricello was running from police in Westfield when she struck the officer.

The Westfield Police Department also plans to lodge warrants for Lauricello's arrest for the following offenses: Petit Larceny, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Assault on a Police Officer 2nd, Fleeing a police officer, and Failing to Comply with a Police Officer.
