AMHERST, N.Y.- After winning a MAC championship in 2008, UB struggled for a few seasons, but that is all behind them. They are riding a 6 game winning streak and coming before a national audience here at UB tomorrow night on ESPN 2.

After beating Ball State for the Mid-American Conference title, the Bulls finished near the bottom of the MAC East for the next four seasons, amassing a record of 14 and 34 over that period.

UB Coach Jeff Quinn says "it was a difficult time last season, we were one and seven at this point a year ago, but I saw that there was a lot of progress being made."

They closed the season winning 3 out of their last four games, after inserting former Williamsville South standout Joe Licata in at Q-B. Licata and the Bulls have kept growing. He is now 9 and 3 as a starter and looking forward to showing off his hometown on national television.

"It's really exciting to be on ESPN 2, two 6 and 2 teams battling it out for the top of the MAC East, It's gonna be exciting."

For Kahlil Mack and the rest of the seniors it will be special, the Bulls are on the road for the next two weeks. They finish the regular season at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the day after Thanksgiving.

"It's going to be an exciting game, the last one here at UB for me, it's going to be an emotional game, but at the same time, we want to get that emotional win" said Mack.

The 6-3, 248 pound LB from Florida has added his share of excitement in a UB uniform. Mack holds the school record for tackles for loss and forced fumbles. He is also in the running for several post-season honors including the Butkis Award, given to the top college linebacker in the nation.

Quinn adds "we have a mindset, we want to move this program, not just in the Mid American Conference, the conference in which we compete, but being able to be recognized nationally."

With the seasons the Sabres and Bills have been having, the folks here at UB are just happy to be able to give Buffalo sports fans something to cheer about.
