IRIVING, NY-- A possible sale that's in the works could prevent a local hospital from shutting its doors, and could save over 400 jobs.
Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards told 2 On Your Side that an offer is expected to be made to buy Lakeshore Hospital. However, nothing is official yet.
Earlier this month, the Board of Directors for the hospital announced plans to close by January, it's now in the hands of the Board of Directors to approve the sale.
Edwards says he's not sure when to expect a decision, but this matter will certainly come up for discussion at the board's meeting this week.
"My focus, as well as all of those I've been working with, is how to maintain as much of this critical service as we can, in Irving at the Lake Shore Hospital facility, as many of the jobs as we can to provide these essential services, and having a local person interested in acquiring the property and having some local control over the property in the services is something that's very exciting for me and those who are involved," says Edwards.
The board has to make a decision on a buyer by January 14th.
