BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo is in Buffalo forthe groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a medical school expected to open in 2016.
Cuomo started his visit Tuesday morning with a tour of Buffalo Harbor development projects on the city's Lake Erie waterfront.
He'll then head for the groundbreaking ceremony being held for the University at Buffalo's new $375 million medical school. The current medical school is on UB's south campus in Buffalo.
The new facility for UB's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is being built on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, a five-block downtown area with hospitals and biomedical science companies.
Other nearby construction projects include a new children's hospital, a medical office building and Roswell Park Cancer Institute's $40 million Clinical Sciences Center.
