AMHERST, N.Y. - If you're looking for something to do this evening, you can raise a glass and help out a local charity in the process.
UnLIMBited was started by a Cheektowaga family whose mission is to provide prosthetic limbs to kids so they can participate in sports along with their peers.
The Kopacz family was inspired by their son Ryder who was born with a limb deficiency. Insurance covered basic prosthetics but none that were really suitable for playing hockey, Ryder's favorite sport.
2 On Your Side's Heather Ly shared Ryder's story with viewers, and followed up with him one year ago after an anonymous donor purchased two specialized prosthetics for Ryder.
Ryder's parents said they wanted to pay it forward, so they established the non-profit earlier this year.
A fall beer and wine tasting is being held tonight at UB's Center for the Arts Atrium from 7 - 10 p.m. Tickets are $35, and 100% of the donations go toward funding prosthetics for deserving children.
