The Attica High School football player who was flown from a game in Alexander Friday night has been released from the hospital, 2 On Your Side learned Saturday evening.
The player, whose name has not been released, was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight a short time after Friday night's game against Alexander High School in Genesee County.
We talked to Bryce Thompson, the Attica superintendent of schools, who said that the recent death of Brocton high school football player Damon Janes factored into the school's response.
"It's in the front of our minds because of that incident," said Thompson. "This is a game, and it should be viewed as a game, and we have to do everything we can to keep our student athletes safe so they can enjoy themselves and experience these things. We will be looking at what we can do to improve what we do. To the family who lost their son, there are no words that can make up their loss."
