Benefit Tonight for Baby Daughter of DWI Crash Victim

BUFFALO, NY-- A Kenmore man pleaded guilty in court Thursday morning in a fatal DWI accident that killed his passenger. Tonight, a benefit will be held for the victim's daughter.

Robert Mooney, 20, pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and DWI for the crash that happened on Rt. 5 in the town of Brant back in June.

His passenger, Joseph Cavalleri,20, of Town of Tonawanda, was killed. Mooney will be sentenced December 18. He faces up to seven years behind bars.

Joey, as he was known by loved ones, leaves behind a 20-month-old daughter, Aria. The family is holding a benefit Friday to establish a trust in her name.

It's 5-8 p.m. at St. Amelia's Church, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda. It features a spaghetti dinner, 50/50, basket raffle, children's entertainment. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children.
