PEMBROKE, NY - A man working on his property died Sunday when he became trapped under the machine he was operating.
New York State Police say Kevin Doktor, 54, of Boyce Road in Pembroke, was attempting to remove farm equipment that was stuck in mud when he became wedged under the machine.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
East Pembroke Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Smelski told us that when the skid loader he was operating became stuck the man's son went to get another piece of equipment to free it. When he returned, he found his father trapped.
The skid loader is a common piece of earth-moving construction equipment, something like a small bulldozer or front loader.
The press release did not indicate what caused the accident.
