The Erie County Sheriff's Office made seven arrests at the Buffalo Bills' season-opening game against the New England Patriots at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday, with five inside the stadium and two in the parking lot.

"We'd love no arrests but five arrests on the inside versus 65,000 plus is very good," said Scott Joslyn, Chief of Road Patrol with the Erie County Sheriff's Office.

The game at the stadium in Orchard Park was sold out , with more than 65,000 people in attendance. It also marked the debut of several new gameday policies instituted by the NFL and the Bills, including an additional 128 Erie County sheriff's deputies on site to help enforce behavior; stricter adherence to the fan code of conduct; a tailgate patrol; prohibiting kegs and funnels in stadium parking lots to curtail binge drinking; enforcement of Orchard Park's open container law; and a new security perimeter around the stadium.

"I think the Bills did a great job getting the information out to the fans," Joslyn said about the tougher fans code of conduct and what to expect.

Joslyn said in the past when the weather has been good, and particular opponents - including the Patriots - that the arrest total has been triple those made on Sunday.
