The Buffalo Sabres opened the NHL prospects tournament with a 3-2 win over Columbus on Thursday in Traverse City, Michigan.

The Sabres got first period goals from Nicholas Baptiste, and Williamsville native Justin Bailey.

Top draft pick Rasmus Ristolainen scored the game winner on a 5-on-3 advantage in the second period.

The Sabres will next face prospects from the New York Rangers Friday afternoon.
