Buffalo, NY -- This month of August we haven't needed umbrellas much, but we have needed light jackets quite a bit. At least right now we can ditch the jackets since we finally have summer weather back with temperatures in the 80s.
Despite the latest warm-up the month of August could still overall be a cool one.
While more than 65% of the days this month have been dry with sunshine, cooler air has been in place for much of it. More than 70% of the days have had cooler temperatures below average in the 70s and 60s, with even near record low temperatures several nights. This could still put August in the top 10 for coolest on record.
Before the past warm weekend, August made it to the top 15 coolest averaging a monthly temperature of about 67 degrees F, which nearly ties the 10th coolest August temperature of 66 degrees. On average the August temperature should be above that at 69.8 degrees.
The warm up for much of this week though will help bring the average up but then temperatures are expected to drop below average once again.
In the meantime enjoy the warm, beautiful summer weather while it lasts.
