NIAGARA FALLS, NY -Search crews are back out again today looking for a fisherman who reportedly slipped into the Niagara River early Sunday morning.
New York State Park Police say the man fell into the water while fishing with friends. He was quickly carried out to the center of the river, where his friends last saw him.
They called 911 and the search began.
While searching for the fisherman, the Erie County Air One helicopter pilot spotted a body on the Canadian shore further upstream. The Niagara Park Police Canada was notified, and their officers recovered the body.
The discovery is being investigated as a separate and unrelated incident. Niagara Park Police say they have no reason to suspect foul play.
Authorities have not released the name of the man who fell in the river this morning.
The Niagara Falls Fire Department and the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Ontario Park Police and Erie County Air One have all helped out in the search, which is continuing at this time.
