ALBANY The state Democratic Party says it has raised more than $7 million over the past six months, while Gov. Andrew Cuomo's campaign took in about $6.2 million.

Both the New York State Democratic Committee and Cuomo's re-election committee reported bottom-line fundraising figures Friday, ahead of a Monday filing deadline for the most-recent reporting period, which covered January 11 to July 11.

Overall, Cuomo reported $27.8 million in his campaign coffer with more than a year to go before he's up for re-election. The state Democrats' haul, meanwhile, has benefitted Cuomo as well, with the party airing numerous television advertisements across the state touting Cuomo's economic and social policies since January.

Neither Cuomo's nor the Democrats' full filings were made available as of early Friday afternoon.

Cuomo will have a massive money advantage over whomever challenges him in 2014. Among those eyed by GOP leaders as potential candidates, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino reported $2.2 million on hand in January, while Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro had about $59,000. Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin, of the Albany area, reported $20,102 on hand Friday.
