BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Five people have been rescued from the water along Buffalo's Outer Harbor after their boat took on water and started to sink.
The U.S. Coast Guard pulled four of the victims from the water. Lake Erie Towing pulled one out. No injuries were reported.
Investigators say a strong wave hit the front of the boat and caused it to take on water. It sank a short time later.
"Hopefully, you never end up in the water like that. But, if it does happen to you, they did exactly what you want to do. You want to have on your life jacket, and you want to remain in a group, as tight knit as you can, which they did. They were all holding onto each other," says Corey Parish with the U.S. Coast Guard.
A small craft advisory was in effect at the time of the incident due to strong storms that were moving across Western New York.
