TONAWANDA, NY - After working for sixty years as part of the fleet of boats that maintain the Erie Canal, The Urger was retired in 1894.

The 75-foot tugboat has kept busy in retirement, traveling the state's waterways as a teaching tool, primarily for kids learning the history of New York.

Captain Wendy Marble has skippered the Urger for the past two seasons, along with a crew of three.

The boat is in Western New York this weekend. It will be along the canal in the City of Tonawanda until Friday, then it will move to Canalside for the weekend.

2 On Your Side Photojournalist Dooley O'Rourke went aboard to learn what this piece of history has to offer.  You can watch the story in the video player above.
